What CleaningHQ is, what it refuses to do, and who is behind it.

What it is

CleaningHQ is a structured body of knowledge about cleaning: what removes what, why it works chemically, which surfaces it damages, and how well established each of those claims is. It is built as a graph rather than a set of articles, so a question nobody wrote a page for can still be answered from facts recorded separately — and so a safety rule about a material automatically reaches every object made from it.

What it is not

• Not a cleaning blog, and not a list of hacks to try.
• Not a product review site. Nothing here ranks brands.
• Not a source of recipes for homemade cleaning mixtures. We explain what substances do; we do not publish formulations or instructions for combining them.
• Not generated answers. Every claim here is written and reviewed by a person.

The one principle everything follows from

Absence of evidence is never converted into safety.If CleaningHQ has no record that a combination is dangerous, that is not a clearance — it means we have not established what happens. The distinction is built into the data model rather than added as a disclaimer: “not established” and “safe” are different values, and no part of the system can turn one into the other.

Where the information comes from

Every substantive claim carries its sources, what each source is relied on for, and whether anyone has actually read the passage in question. That last distinction is unusual to publish and we think it matters — see Sources & methodology.

Status

CleaningHQ is early. The catalogue is deliberately small and carefully built rather than large and thin, and the homepage publishes its actual size. Pages state their own gaps.
