The acid's role is the unevidenced half: no source read here supports vapour-phase acetic acid acting on greasy soil, and this register records that grease is addressed by surfactants and alkalis rather than by weak acids.

Background

Heat a bowl of water — usually with vinegar or lemon in it — until the cavity fills with steam, leave it a few minutes, then wipe. It is the most-recommended microwave method online and it is genuinely a different claim from the rest of the vinegar family, because the proposed mechanism is PHYSICAL rather than chemical: condensing steam softens and rehydrates a dried-on deposit so it releases under a cloth instead of needing to be scraped. That mechanism is real and this catalogue models it. Softening a dried soil before mechanical removal is the same logic as soaking a pan, and it is why the appliance's own maker directs a soapy cloth and a damp rinse rather than an abrasive or a sharp utensil. What is missing is the vinegar's contribution. Nothing read here establishes that acid in the vapour phase does anything to greasy spatter, and grease is removed by surfactants and alkalis rather than weak acids. The manual is silent on acid inside the cavity, and silence is not a clearance — while it DOES exclude ammonia and alcohol from the exterior by name.
