The acid–carbonate reaction is uncontroversial: acetic acid converts insoluble calcium carbonate into a soluble calcium salt, which is why vinegar descales a kettle. The unexamined part is everything else in the circuit — a pump, seals, a brew unit, gaskets, aluminium or brass components and a plastic tank, held at temperature and under pressure. Two full rinse cycles follow, and if the tank was not filled to maximum the machine prompts a THIRD rinse specifically to ensure the descaler solution has been completely eliminated from the internal circuits. That detail bears on the claim indirectly: the manufacturer treats complete removal of the solution as a design requirement, and a household substitution has no equivalent verification. What the register does NOT hold is any statement from a coffee-machine maker about acetic acid. The steam-iron reading found such a prohibition for a different appliance, and this record does not transfer it.
