The basket carries two instructions that sound contradictory and are not. The manufacturer states the pan, basket and frying insert are DISHWASHER SAFE, and states in the same place that they have a NON-STICK COATING and that metal kitchen utensils and abrasive cleaning materials must never be used on them. A dishwasher does not abrade; a scourer does. So the constraint is mechanical rather than about washing method, and the honest summary is that the machine is permitted while the scouring pad is not. Where residue is stuck, the instruction is time rather than force: fill the pan with hot water and washing-up liquid and soak for five to ten minutes. Where fat persists, a liquid degreaser is directed rather than a harder implement. Both of those exist to keep people away from the abrasive that would take the coating off. IMPORTANT SCOPE: this is one manufacturer speaking about its own products. A second manufacturer agrees on every point, but two agreeing is not a statement about every air fryer, and dishwasher permission in particular is the kind of thing a maker sets for its own coating.
