An enzyme cleaner is not a stronger detergent, and the difference decides whether it works. Enzymes are catalysts that cut a SPECIFIC KIND of molecule, and the classes used in cleaning divide the work by soil type: proteases act on the proteins in blood and sweat, lipases on fatty stains, amylases on starchy residues, and cellulases trim dangling cellulose fibres from fabric. That specificity is the whole design, and it is the limitation nobody puts on the label — a protease does nothing to a grease mark, and a lipase does nothing to blood. So the question “does an enzyme cleaner work on this stain” HAS NO GENERAL ANSWER. It depends which enzymes that product contains, which retail packaging often does not say. The clue on an ingredients list is the suffix: names ending in -ase are enzymes. Temperature matters, and not as people assume. Enzymes are proteins and heat eventually destroys them, but low-temperature activity is engineered into a specific enzyme rather than general — an effective 15°C wash needs a protease selected to be active there.
