In detail
The inner and outer faces of an oven door window are the same piece of glass and take different treatment, for the same reason the door's three zones do — what is on either side of it differs. THE OUTSIDE takes an ordinary glass cleaner, rinsed and polished with a dry cloth, and soap and water is offered as an alternative for the door generally. What it must not meet is the oven cleaner, cleansing powder, steel wool or harsh abrasive excluded from the whole door exterior, because the surround the pane sits in is painted. THE INSIDE, on a self-cleaning oven, is not hand-cleaned at all: the area within the gasket is cleaned by the cycle, and the manufacturer states that any soap left on the liner causes additional stains when the oven is next heated. Cleaning it by hand is therefore not merely unnecessary but a route to a mark that appears later and looks like something else. One handling instruction is worth as much as either. The door must not be lifted by its handle when removed — the stated consequence is that the glass can break, or the door be damaged.
