In detail
A shaving brush is used wet by design, so the usual brush rule — keep water out of the tuft — does not apply, and everything moves to the drying. The maker's routine is short: rinse the suds off in lukewarm water, gently shake off the excess, and store it bristle-down on a stand. Bristle-down is the entire discipline. A brush left standing on its base holds water in the knot, and the knot is a bundle of fibres set in adhesive inside a handle. Water that stays there softens the glue and rots natural hair from the base outward, which is why an expensive brush fails at the handle rather than at the tips. The stand exists to let gravity finish the job. Soap residue is the other half. Lather left in the knot dries into a stiff plug that traps the next wash of water, so the rinse is not a nicety — it is what stops the brush becoming its own reservoir. Direct heat and direct sunlight are excluded here as for every other brush the same maker sells.
