A door handle is rarely visibly soiled and is on the regulator's list of items to wash and disinfect regularly anyway. The reasoning is about ROUTE rather than appearance: hands carry contamination onto the handle and the next pair of hands carries it off, so a handle between a raw-food area and anywhere else is a transfer point regardless of how it looks. That makes it one of the clearest cases in this catalogue where the trigger for cleaning is not dirt.
